What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy  that involves of assessing, diagnosing, treating and preventing pain and dysfunction in the body.

Osteopaths work with the structure and function of the body in order to treat the body as a whole, creating a tailored treatment plan for each individual that comes into the clinic.

At MDOsteo, we use a broad spectrum of approaches in order to achieved the your goals, from joint manipulations, soft tissue release, stretching and strengthening techniques.


What should i expect on my first visit?

Your first visit is used to ensure your Osteopath has a thorough understanding of  you as an individiual, your goals from treatment and how we are going to achieve them.

The intial assessment will involve:

1. A full case history- which will include a past medical history, and lifestyle, enabling us to have a greater understanding of how the symptoms may have developed.

2. Physical Assessment-  Following on from this an active and passive examination will be conducted involving going through some basic movements and appropriate tests.

3. Explanation of diagnosis and treatment plan- Based on the findings and information gained during your case history, your osteopath will explain your diagnosis to you and answer any questions you have. If treatment isn’t appropriate your osteopath will explain why and refer you on to the appropriate health care professional. If treatment is appropriate, you will be offered the option to start treatment on the the day, or rebook for a day of your convienience.
